What firewall ports do I need to open for RUCKUS One?

To allow proper communication of your network equipment with RUCKUS One, configure your firewall according to the guidelines listed in the RUCKUS One Online Help Guide: Firewall Ports to Open for RUCKUS One.

What if the RUCKUS One cloud services go offline, or external connectivity is lost? How will that impact AP and switch networking?

In the event of RUCKUS One going offline, wireless networks will remain available, but authentication services such as DPSK and Captive Portal will become unavailable. Switching traffic will not be impacted in the event of RUCKUS One downtime. PSK authentication, non-proxy 802.1X authentication and clients with an active connection will continue to function.

What happens if the subscription expires? If I forget to pay the bill for a week, will functionality still be there?

An alarm will be raised 30 days prior to trial license expiration, also the admin will get a weekly notification until the expiration occurs.

Is it possible to convert my account from an End Customer account to an MSP account?

It is not possible to convert a subscription from one customer type to another. Customers who wish to convert from End-Customer licensing to MSP must order an MSP subscription and configure environments under the MSP subscription.

What does RUCKUS One offer to help with troubleshooting issues?

RUCKUS One leverages AI to proactively discover, diagnose, prioritize, and recommend fixes for network issues. It also organizes and displays helpful information to assist you in troubleshooting. What is the bandwidth overhead required for maintaining operational connectivity to RUCKUS One?

Your APs check in with RUCKUS One with heartbeat checks, config updates, and other operational functions. When idle, an AP uses approximately 5Mb* / hr. Operational overhead does not vary widely.

How does RUCKUS One handle firmware updates for network devices (such as APs and switches)? Do firmware updates impact network uptime?

By default, all firmware upgrades are automated, and the default window is on the weekends between 12am to 4am based on your local geographical region. This window can be customized per your organization’s requirement in RUCKUS One. Firmware upgrades include reboots; hence a brief network disruption is expected.

How do AP and switch upgrades work?

You can view and update the firmware versions of the APs and switches from RUCKUS One. To learn the procedure for managing AP and switch firmware, refer to RUCKUS One Online Help Guide: Version Management.

What is the retention period of the statistics for RUCKUS One?

Activity, administration, and statistical logs are maintained by RUCKUS One and are guaranteed for at least 90 days of view and analysis.

Why is CLI access to the Access Points restricted?

Configuration changes made via the CLI on a cloud-managed AP will be erased upon the next configuration update, firmware update, or reboot. The purpose of the CLI is strictly for troubleshooting purposes and NOT for setting or managing configuration changes.

Can I migrate my RUCKUS APs and Switches to other RUCKUS Controller solutions?

Yes, RUCKUS One managed devices can be migrated to other RUCKUS managed controller solutions like SmartZone and Unleashed. Delete the AP from the RUKUS One controller; in the AP List, select the desired AP and click Delete.

In the Delete confirmation page, choose the option Factory reset to standalone firmware and click Delete.

The AP will be loaded with the standalone firmware and will be ready to be onboarded into SmartZone or Unleashed controllers.

The switches will not be sent to factory defaults after they are deleted.
