AI-Driven RRM

The AI-Driven RRM page displays all the recommendations for reducing co-channel interference for all network zones.

Note: Access to AI-Driven RRM is available exclusively to users with the Prime Administrator role and designated access to the Default Resource Group.
On the Navigation bar, click AI Assurance > AI Analytics > AI-Driven RRM. The AI-Driven RRM page is displayed. The AI-Driven RRM page displays all the recommendations in a table for the selected network node and date/time filters. Each recommendation is made up of a number of attributes as shown in the following table. You can use the search option to search the required recommendation by its summary, zone, zone RRM health, and status.
AI-Driven RRM Page
The table has the following attributes:
  • Zone RRM Health: AI-Driven RRM displays RRM health visibility for all zones. Apart from the optimized and non-optimized statuses, RUCKUS AI also covers additional scenarios such as verified, verification error, insufficient licenses, no AP, and unqualified zone. It helps you to understand the underlying missing configurations and optimize the network by leveraging RRM feature across all zones. Zone RRM Health statuses are described in the table below.
    Table 1. Zone RRM Health
    Zone RRM Health Description
Optimized Indicates that the AI-driven RRM recommendation is applied to all the APs in a zone and the zone is in optimized condition.
Non-Optimized Indicates that there are interfering links and co-channel interference in a zone. An AI-Driven RRM recommendation is available to improve the sub-optimal configuration. The recommendation provides an optimized choice of channel and channel width. Click the icon to apply the most recommended parameters to all the APs in the zone, which will reduce the number of interfering links and co-channel interference.
Insufficient Licenses Indicates that the license compliance requirement is not honored and the zone has insufficient licenses. AI-Driven RRM recommendations are triggered only for zones with 100 percent licensed APs. For more information on managing licenses, refer to Managing and Assigning the licenses to the APs.

If you assign the missing licenses for the APs added to the zone, it will take a maximum of three days to reflect the change in the RRM Health state.

Verified Indicates that the zone is already AI verified and is in an optimal state. RUCKUS AI does not recommend any changes to the RRM configuration. It will continue to monitor the zones and raise a recommendation if an improvement is required.
Verification Error Indicates that the basic prerequisites to support AI-Driven RRM are not fulfilled and certain network configurations are not aligned with AI-Driven RRM considerations. For example, this status is displayed when there is insufficient data for RUCKUS AI to generate RRM recommendations. RUCKUS AI requires at least 4 days of data to train its AI models.
Unqualified Zone Indicates that the venue does not meet the required criteria or standards to support AI-Driven RRM. This status is displayed in the following scenarios:
    • When more than 20% of the Access Points (APs) in the zone have configurations with AP overrides.
    • When the zone has mesh configuration enabled.
In these scenarios, RRM recommendations will not be generated.
No APs Indicates that there are no APs in the zone.
  • Date: Displays the date and time when the recommendation was created.
  • Summary: Displays a short description for the RRM health statuses.
  • Zone: Displays the affected zone name.
  • Status: Displays the status of the recommendation. The status is New when the recommendation is available but not applied. The status changes to Scheduled after you have scheduled to apply the recommendation. It changes to Applied after the scheduled recommendation has applied the change. If applying the recommendation fails, the status changes to Failed. The status changes to Reverted if a recommendation was previously applied but subsequently reverted. Every state change triggers an email message to the network administrator providing information about the status. For more information, refer to Table 2.
  • Full Optimization: Allows you to toggle between full optimization and partial optimization. By default, full optimization is enabled. RRM recommendation with full optimization considers channel plan, channel bandwidth, and Tx power to optimize the zone.

Turn off the toggle button to choose partial optimization and only the channel plan is considered for optimization. RRM recommendation with partial optimization does not consider channel bandwidth and Tx power. When you turn off the toggle button to select partial optimization, the RRM item will be greyed out and a new recommendation is generated within the next 24 hours only if a better channel plan for the zone is available.

When a recommendation is in the Applied, Scheduled, or Apply Scheduled status, the toggle button is greyed out and you cannot change the optimization criteria. In such a scenario, you must first revert the recommendation state to New before changing the optimization criteria.

Table 2. Recommendation Statuses

Reverted A reversion has been successfully applied. After successful reversion, RRM will evaluate the network conditions and, if necessary, will generate a new recommendation after 24 hours. Mute
Insufficient Licenses License compliance requirement is not honored and the zone has insufficient licenses. Manage and assign licenses to the APs. For more information on managing licenses, refer to Managing and Assigning the licenses to the APs
Verification Error Basic prerequisites to support AI-Driven RRM is not fulfilled and certain network configurations are not aligned with AI-Driven RRM considerations. Other reasons include:
  • Unsupported Controller version (versions prior to 5.2.1)
  • RRM internal errors:
    • Missing CCM data for access points
    • Algorithm Failure
    • No data to calculate KPIs
    • Post algorithm checks failed
    • Error in channel plan generation.

It is recommended to open a ticket with RUCKUS customer support for resolve or understand the RRM internal errors.
