AP Overview
Before an AP is added to a RUCKUS One account, it must be verified as a supported RUCKUS AP model. RUCKUS also recommends keeping a record of the AP’s serial number prior to connecting it to RUCKUS One. The serial number is printed on the sticker located on the bottom of the AP. This information provides important device identification and ensures that only compatible APs are brought under management.
The Access Points section in RUCKUS One provides a centralized conceptual view of all APs associated with your account. This section represents the primary inventory and analytical layer for understanding how APs are organized, deployed, grouped, and monitored within the platform. It does not describe specific management actions; instead, it explains the information available across the AP‑related tabs.
The Access Points page consists of four tabs, each representing a different aspect of AP visibility and organization:
| AP List | The AP List tab offers a complete inventory of all APs linked to the account. It displays identification details, operational state, deployment context, radio characteristics, and other attributes that describe the AP’s role and status within the network. Refer to Viewing and Managing the AP List. |
| AP Group List | The AP Group List tab organizes APs into logical groups. Each group represents a collection of APs that share common configuration or deployment characteristics. This tab provides a high‑level view of AP distribution across groups, including membership and associated network information. Refer to AP Group Overview. |
| AP Report | The AP Report tab includes historical KPIs related to AP behavior and availability. This tab helps illustrate long‑term performance patterns, such as uptime, offline duration, and overall AP count trends across the organization. Refer to Access Points Report. |
| Airtime Utilization Report | The Airtime Utilization Report provides historical airtime usage across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands. This view helps identify utilization levels and highlights APs with higher airtime consumption. Refer to Airtime Utilization Report. |
Role of the Access Points Section
- A unified inventory of all APs in the organization
- A structured grouping mechanism through AP Groups
- Historical insights through AP and airtime utilization reporting
- A conceptual model for understanding AP deployment and performance
