Editing or Deleting a DPSK Service

A Dynamic Pre-Shared Key (DPSK) service defines how unique credentials are generated, assigned, and enforced for client access. Editing or deleting a DPSK service allows you to modify authentication behavior or remove access policies associated with the service.

Complete the following steps to edit or delete a DPSK service from the RUCKUS One user interface.
  1. On the navigation bar, click Network Control and click My Services.
  2. Click DPSK.
  3. Click the radio button next to the name of the DPSK service to access the available actions.
  4. Select the desired action; perform one of the following:
    1. Click Edit. On the resulting Edit DPSK page, modify the DPSK service settings as required and click Finish. Alternately, clicking the DPSK name displays the details page. Click Configure to edit the DPSK settings.

In the Edit DPSK window, modify the required fields:

      • Service Name: Enter the DPSK service name. Renaming the service does not affect existing passphrases but updates how the service appears in the UI.
      • Passphrase Format: Select the format used to generate DPSK credentials.

        Available options include:

        • Most Secured – Generates complex passphrases that improve security but can be harder to enter on client devices.
        • Keyboard Friendly – Generates passphrases that are easier to enter while maintaining reasonable security.
        • Numbers Only – Generates numeric-only passphrases, which are easier to enter but less secure.
        • Dictionary Words – Generates passphrases using dictionary words, which improves usability with moderate security.
      • Word Count: Specifies the number of words used when Dictionary Words is selected. The valid range is 3 to 6.
      • Numeric Suffix(toggle): Enables adding a numeric suffix to the end of the generated passphrase.
        • Enable this option to increase passphrase complexity.
        • Disable this option to keep passphrases simpler and easier to remember.
      • Expiration: Defines how long the DPSK credentials remain valid:
        • Never expires – Credentials remain valid indefinitely.
        • By date – Credentials expire on a specific date.
        • After [duration] – Credentials expire after a defined time interval.

Select a value based on your security and operational requirements.

      • Devices allowed per passphrase: Determines how many devices can use the same DPSK:
        • Unlimited – Allows multiple devices to use the same credential (simplifies access but reduces control).
        • Limited to.. – Restricts the number of devices, improving security and user isolation.
      • Identity Groups: Associates the DPSK service with one or more identity groups.
Note: Identity groups associated with a DPSK service cannot be removed if they are used by any passphrases in that service.
      • Auto-send DPSK info(toggle): Automatically sends DPSK credentials to the users after generation by email or SMS. Enable this option to streamline onboarding workflows, or Disable this option if credentials must be distributed manually.
Note: For SMS, ensure that an SMS provider is set up. Configure it in Administration > Settings
      • Adaptive Policy Set: Assigns a policy set that controls traffic handling and access behavior. Select an existing policy set from the drop-down, or Click Add to create a new policy set if required.
    2. Click Delete. On the resulting confirmation pop-up, click Delete DPSK Service. The DPSK service that you deleted is removed from the DPSK page.
Note: Deleting a DPSK service permanently removes all associated passphrases and access configurations. Clients using the service lose connectivity until an alternative authentication method is configured.
Note: You can delete a DPSK service only if it has no associated network instances and it contains no passphrases. This restriction is in place to protect the identity management functionality.
