Adding a DPSK Service

Adding a DPSK service strengthens Wi-Fi security by giving each user a unique passphrase, simplifies access control, supports scalability, and enables better tracking while ensuring smooth onboarding and centralized management.

DPSK service configuration requires associating an Identity Group, which can be pre-existing or added in real time.

Users having the system-defined DPSK Manager administrator role can create and manage DPSK services, but cannot create Identity Groups. Identity Groups must be created by a user having RBAC permissions for Wi-Fi Client Identity Management (such as the Administrator or Prime Admin role).

Complete the following steps to add a DPSK service.
  1. Add the DPSK service to your tenant account. From the navigation bar, select Network Control > Service Catalog. Alternatively, you can select Network Control > My Services, then click Add Service.
  2. Find the DPSK tile and click Add.
  3. Complete the Settings in the Add DPSK page.

  4. Enter a Service Name for the DPSK service.
  5. Select a Passphrase Format from the drop‑down:
    • Most Secured(default): Uses all printable ASCII characters.
    • Keyboard Friendly: Uses only letters and numbers.
    • Numbers Only: Uses only numeric characters.
  6. Set the Passphrase Length.

The default is 18 characters, and you may choose any length from 8 to 63 characters, depending on organizational requirements.

  7. Configure the Expiration option:
    • Never expires (default)
    • By date: Select a specific expiration date.
    • After: Select a time interval (Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, or Years).
  8. Choose the allowed number of devices per passphrase:
    • Unlimited (default)
    • Limited to: Specify a value from 1 to 512.
  9. Select one or more Identity Groups from the drop‑down, or click Add to create a new Identity Group. Refer to refer to Adding an Identity Group for more information.
Note: You can now associate up to five identity groups with a single DPSK service.
Note: For DPSK services that were created before Identity Group was mandatory, the system automatically created and associated an Identity Group for that DPSK service. When devices connect, corresponding identities will be automatically created within that group.
  10. Toggle the Auto‑send DPSK info switch on to allow RUCKUS One to automatically send Wi‑Fi credentials (DPSK) to users by email or SMS whenever a DPSK is created, updated, or deleted. This feature is off by default.
When a passphrase includes a saved email address or phone number, the system automatically notifies the associated user:
    • Creation: Sends the newly generated DPSK details.
    • Update: Sends the updated password only if the passphrase value changes.
    • Deletion: Sends a confirmation that the passphrase has been removed.
If the toggle is off, the system will not send any automatic notifications. Administrators can still manually send or resend messages from the UI.
    Note:
    • The setting applies at the DPSK pool level, covering all passphrases in that pool.
    • If a DPSK pool is not bound to a WLAN, notifications are not sent, even when auto‑send is enabled.
    • When creating multiple passphrases at once, automatic notifications are disabled.

To notify users individually, import passphrases with per‑passphrase contact details.

    • When deleting several passphrases that share the same contact, the system sends only one email and one SMS to prevent repeated alerts.
    • SMS messages are sent only when the passphrase contains a valid phone number.
    • Ensure the SMS provider is configured in Administration > Settings.
