The RUCKUS One web interface supports RUCKUS ICX switch firmware updates at the individual switch level.

1. From the navigation bar, select Administration > Account Management > Version Management.
2. Select the Switch Firmware sub-tab.
3. To update switches associated with one or more venues, in the Switch Firmware table, select the desired Venue checkbox for one or more venues, and click Update Now. To manually initiate a firmware update:
   1. Select the checkbox for one or more venues.
   2. Click Update Now.
      The Update Now dialog box is displayed, defaulting to the Select Switch(es) page.

      Note: Only connected switches associated with the venue are shown in this list.
   3. Click the icon next to a venue to display its associated switches.
      You can use the Search option to display only the table entries matching the specified Switch or Model; enter a minimum of two characters.
   4. Select the checkbox for each switch that you want to update.

      
      
      

   5. Click Next.
      The Select Firmware page is displayed.

      
      
      

   6. Select the firmware version for each applicable switch series.
      Firmware versions are grouped by switch series. Only the series matching the selected switches are displayed. Some firmware versions display the Recommended label, which identifies the preferred firmware release for the switch series. The recommended release might not be the latest available release.

      • Select Do not update firmware on these switches for a switch series that you do not want to update.

      Note:

      • RUCKUS ICX 8200-24PV and ICX 8200-C08PFV AV switches are supported in FastIron release 10.0.10 (versions 10.0.10f and later), release 10.0.20 (versions 10.0.20b and later), and future FastIron releases. These AV switches cannot be downgraded to earlier releases (such as 08.0.95x, 09.0.10x, or 10.0.00x) or earlier versions (such as 10.0.10, 10.0.10a, 10.0.10b, 10.0.10c, 10.0.10d, 10.0.10e, 10.0.20, or 10.0.20a).
      • The RUCKUS ICX 7550-24XZP switch is supported in FastIron release 10.0.20b-cd1 or later versions; it is not supported in FastIron 09.0.10 and 10.0.10 releases.
      • RUCKUS ICX 8100 10G switches are supported in FastIron firmware versions 10.0.10g-cd1 and 10.0.20c and later. Supported models include ICX 8100-24-X, ICX 8100-24P-X, ICX 8100-48-X, ICX 8100-48P-X, and ICX 8100-C08PF-X. They are not supported in FastIron release 09.0.10 or earlier versions of the 10.0.10 and 10.0.20 releases (such as 10.0.10, 10.0.10a, 10.0.10b, 10.0.10c, 10.0.10d, 10.0.10e, 10.0.10f, 10.0.20, 10.0.20a, or 10.0.20b).
   7. (Optional) To restore a configuration backup during a firmware downgrade, select a firmware version labeled Downgrade, and select Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen.
      The Restore Configuration step is added to the Update Now workflow, and the Next button replaces the Run Update button.

      Note: The Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen checkbox appears only when you select a firmware downgrade.
   8. Complete one of the following actions:
      • If you did not select the Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen checkbox, click Run Update.
      • If you selected the Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen option, click Next.

        The Restore Configuration page is displayed. The page displays the selected switch series and the switches for which configuration restoration is enabled.

   9. (Optional) On the Restore Configuration page, select a venue from the Venue drop-down list to filter the displayed switches.
   10. From the Select Backup drop-down list for each switch, select the configuration backup that you want to restore.
       The drop-down list displays Skip first, followed by the available configuration backups. A backup with the Recommended label identifies the recommended backup for the switch.

       Note: If a compatible configuration backup is unavailable or you do not want to restore a backup, leave Skip selected. The firmware downgrade proceeds without restoring a configuration backup on that switch.
   11. Click Run Update.
       RUCKUS initiates the firmware update, and the Status column of the Switch Firmware table displays the update status. If you select a configuration backup, RUCKUS restores the backup after the firmware downgrade completes successfully and the switch comes online.
       The firmware downgrade proceeds without configuration restoration for switches for which Skip is selected.

       Note: A configuration restore failure does not roll back the completed firmware downgrade.
   12. Click Check Status in the Status column of the Switch Firmware table.
       The Firmware update status sidebar opens and displays the switch name, firmware update status, target firmware version, and date and time of the last update for each switch associated with the selected venue.
4. (Optional) To change the firmware update schedule for switches associated with a venue, click Change Update Schedule, and complete the following steps:
   1. Select the checkbox for one or more venues.
      The Update Schedule dialog box is displayed, defaulting to the Select Switch(es) page.

      
      
      

   2. Click the icon next to a venue to display its associated switches.
      You can use the Search option to display only the table entries matching the specified Switch or Model; enter a minimum of two characters.
   3. Select the checkbox for each switch for which you want to change the update schedule.
   4. Click Next.
      The Select Firmware page is displayed.
   5. Select the firmware version for the switch that you want to update.
      Note:

      • Firmware versions are grouped by switch series; only series matching the selected switches are shown.
      • Some versions display a Recommended label to indicate the preferred release for that series.
      • If a selected version requires conversion from a switch image to a router image, an informational banner appears under that option.
      • Each switch series includes a Do not update firmware on these switches option.
      • When the selection includes ICX 8200‑AV switches and you select a firmware version earlier than the AV-supported baseline, a message identifies the venues and switches that will not be upgraded. The message explains that ICX 8200-AV models support firmware 10.0.10f and later, and you can upgrade those switches separately using a supported version.
   6. (Optional) To restore a configuration backup during a firmware downgrade, select a firmware version labeled Downgrade, and select Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen.
      The Restore Configuration step is added to the Update Schedule workflow, and the Next button replaces the Save button.

      Note: The Restore configuration from an existing backup. Configuration selection is available in the next screen checkbox appears only when you select a firmware version labeled Downgrade.
   7. In the Update date field, select the date on which you want the firmware update to run.
      Note: The local time zone of the venue is applied to the selected schedule.
   8. Select an option from the Update time list.
      The available update times are displayed in two-hour intervals.

      Note: Only future time slots are available for selection.
   9. (Optional) Toggle the Pre-download the firmware switch on to download the firmware to the switch in the background before the scheduled upgrade time.
      RUCKUS downloads the firmware for the selected switches six hours before the scheduled update time, thereby reducing the time required to complete the firmware update after the scheduled update begins.
   10. Click Next.
       The Restore Configuration page is displayed. The page displays the selected switch series and the switches for which configuration restoration is enabled.
   11. (Optional) On the Restore Configuration page, select a venue from the Venue drop-down list to filter the displayed switches.
   12. From the Select Backup drop-down list for each switch, select the configuration backup that you want to restore.
       The drop-down list displays Skip first, followed by the available configuration backups. A backup with the Recommended label identifies the recommended backup for the switch.

       Note: If a compatible configuration backup is unavailable or you do not want to restore a backup, leave Skip selected. The firmware downgrade proceeds without restoring a configuration backup on that switch.
   13. Click Save.
       RUCKUS saves the firmware update schedule, and the Scheduling column of the Switch Firmware table displays the scheduling status.
   14. Click Check Status in the Status column of the Switch Firmware table.
       The Firmware update status sidebar opens and displays the switch name, firmware update status, target firmware version, and date and time of the last update for each switch associated with the selected venue.
5. (Optional) To skip a pending firmware update, complete the following steps:
   1. Select the checkbox for one or more venues.
   2. Click Skip Update.
      The Skip Updates dialog box is displayed.

      
      
      

   3. Click the icon next to each venue to display the associated switches.
      You can use the Search option to display only the table entries matching the specified Switch or Model; enter a minimum of two characters.
   4. Select the checkbox for each switch for which you want to skip the update.
   5. Click Skip.
      The Skip This Update? dialog box is displayed.
   6. Click Skip.
      A success message appears, and the Scheduling column of the Switch Firmware table displays the updated scheduling status.
6. (Optional) To disable firmware management for switches associated with a venue, complete the following steps:
   1. Select the checkbox for the venue for which you want to disable firmware management.
   2. Click Disable Firmware Management.
      The Disable Firmware Management? dialog box message is displayed.

      Note: Disabling firmware management removes RUCKUS One’s ability to schedule or push firmware updates to switches in this venue. Any pending automated updates will be canceled, and you will be responsible for managing switch firmware manually (via CLI or local management interface).
   3. Click Disable.
      Firmware management is disabled for the switches associated with the selected venue.
