Limitations of RUCKUS ICX 8100 and ICX 8200

ICX 8100 Series Limitations

The RUCKUS ICX 8100 series switches have the following limitations that should be noted for proper deployment and network design.

  • Stacking is supported only on 10G ICX 8100 models (denoted by the “–X” model name suffix). Up to 4 units may be stacked, and they must be running FastIron firmware version 10.0.10h or later.
  • ICX 8100 (non‑X) models do not support stacking.
  • ICX 8100 AV models do not support stacking.
  • Breakout ports are not supported. A breakout port is a high‑speed interface divided into multiple lower‑speed ports.
  • Only the default static route and default VE interface are supported in FastIron firmware versions 10.0.20 and 10.0.10g and earlier. FastIron firmware 10.0.10h and later the 10.0.10x code stream support up to 2,048 static routes and 512 VEs.
  • The 10.0.20 series does not support the expanded static route/VE scale.
  • Supported firmware versions:
    • Only the Router Image is supported.
    • RUCKUS ICX 8100 switches (models: ICX 8100-24, ICX 8100-24P, ICX 8100-48, ICX 8100-48P, ICX 8100-C08PF) are supported in FastIron firmware versions 10.0.10f_cd2, 10.0.20b_cd1, and later.
    • RUCKUS ICX 8100 10G switches (models: ICX 8100-24-X, ICX 8100-24P-X, ICX 8100-48-X, ICX 8100-48P-X, and ICX 8100-C08PF-X) are supported in FastIron firmware versions 10.0.10g-cd1, 10.0.20c, and later.
    • RUCKUS ICX 8100 switches (models: ICX 8100-48PF, ICX 8100-48PF-X, ICX 8100-C16P, and ICX 8100-C16P-X) are supported on FastIron firmware versions 10.0.10h and later.
    • ICX 8100 AV models require FastIron 10.0.10h_cd1 or later.

ICX 8200 Series Limitations

The following limitations apply to the newly supported ICX8200‑24XP2 and ICX8200‑48NP2 models and should be noted for proper deployment and network design:
  • Only the Router image is supported when the switches are managed by RUCKUS One.
  • Breakout ports are not supported on these non‑AV models.
  • These models require FastIron firmware version 10.0.10j+ or 10.0.20c+.
  • Stacking support depends on the model and firmware; all stack members must belong to the ICX 8200 family.
