Troubleshooting a Switch Connection

RUCKUS One provides the ability to test connectivity between any selected switch and a given network.

Complete the following steps to troubleshoot a switch connected to RUCKUS One.
  1. On the navigation bar, click Wired > Switch List.
    The Switches page is displayed.
  2. Click the name of the switch that you want to troubleshoot.
    The switch Overview page is displayed.
  3. Select the Troubleshooting tab.
    By default, the Ping sub-tab is displayed.

  4. In the Ping sub-tab, enter the host name or a valid IP address in the Target host or IP address field and click Run.
    The ping result is displayed. Optionally, you can click Copy Output to copy the result into the temporary storage area (clipboard) of your local machine for pasting and saving elsewhere.

  5. In the Trace Route sub-tab, enter the host name or a valid IP address for the Target host or IP address field, then enter a number ranging from 1 through 225 for the Maximum TTL (Hops) field, and click Run.
    The trace route result is displayed. Optionally, you can click Copy Output to copy the result into the temporary storage area (clipboard) of your local machine for pasting and saving elsewhere.
  6. In the IP Route sub-tab, click Show Route. The IP route result is displayed. Optionally, you can click Copy Output to copy the result into the temporary storage area (clipboard) of your local machine for pasting and saving elsewhere.
  7. In the MAC Address Table sub-tab, select a filter in the Refine table by drop-down list and click Show Table.

    The drop-down list allows you to filter and view the MAC address table as follows:

    • Select Connected Port and then select a port number to view the total number of MAC address entries for the specified Ethernet port, as well as the MAC address table listing the associated port, the type, and the VLAN number for each MAC address.
    • Select VLAN and then select a VLAN ID to view the total number of active MAC addresses for the specified VLAN, as well as the MAC address table listing the associated port, the type, and the VLAN number for each MAC address.
    • Select MAC Address Table and then enter a valid MAC address to view the information associated with the specified MAC address.

    Optionally, you can click Copy Output to copy the result into the temporary storage area (clipboard) of your local machine for pasting and saving elsewhere.
