Topology Map in Venues

You can view the topology map for devices in a venue. This visual network structure aids in understanding device connectivity, network management, and troubleshooting.

Feature Overview

RUCKUS One provides, at the venue level, an interactive, color-coded network topology map:
  • View the intra-network connectivity of all ICX switches and APs within a venue.
  • Expand or collapse the branches for the network.
  • View real-time device details by clicking on the device icon.
  • Instantly know the status of all devices via color-coding (red = Disconnected, green = Operational).
  • Search for devices in the topology map by using the device name or device MAC.
  • View details about the connections by clicking the lines connecting the devices. Connections between switches are represented as Switch<->Switch, and those between switches and APs are represented as Switch<->AP.

Limitations

If the uplink port on an device is modified, the device must rejoin the network so that the device communicates the updated uplink port information to RUCKUS One. The device topology displayed on the RUCKUS One web interface is therefore accurate and up-to-date.

Requirements

This feature has no special hardware or software requirements for feature enablement or usage.

Considerations

  • If you have created a Venue, but not yet added an ICX switch or AP, then the Topology view contains options Add Access Point and Add Switch, providing quick access to these functions.
  • You may use either the Search function or the VLANs filter, but not both simultaneously.
